Nodemon? cannot be used in the lower version of node

my current version of node is v8.11.3. When using nodemon, nodemon seems to have failed, and I have to restart the service manually every time. What is the reason?

package.json

"scripts": {
    "server": "node server.js",
    "start": "nodemon server.js"
  },

now this version of node.js can only be started once using npm run start, and it does not listen to restart the service. Every time you add a file, you have to re-enter npm run start,. Is there any way to solve this problem?
Thank you!

v8.11.3 personal test can be used.

also, nodemon only recompiles the server code and does not refresh the browser, which still needs to be refreshed manually.

if it doesn't work, you can force you to reinstall nodemon.

sudo npm install -g --force nodemon
